as good as the first one. sg and socks figuring out a group dynamic with rue felt real and relatable with initial struggles and doubts. hopeful mental health rep is always welcome

A very sweet story, highlighting the importance of friendships and being honest and open with your feelings, even if they feel silly. Just goes to show, It’s quite possible that a lot of people are actually having similar experiences. A wonderful series of graphic novels, filled with important messages.

It was a sad read. A lot of the themes resonated with how I feel on the daily basis. It was an amazing follow on from the first book, and didn’t feel like it was a massive break. I really enjoy the writing and the story telling aspects in this. I can’t wait to read the others in the series.

Lize Meddings has continued her adorable graphic novel series The Sad Ghost Club Find Your Kindred Spirits with the return of our favourite characters SG and Socks. After planning to make a club for fellow Sad Ghosts, they meet a new friend called Rue. Socks struggles with feelings of rejection and replacement at SG and Rue’s new friendship and is worried about being dismissed. Meddings highlights insecurities that most of us feel at times and shows how overwhelming these feelings can be. Changes in group dynamics can leave friendships feeling unsettled and Sock’s feelings of rejection are valid!! As they retreat back into themselves, we witness their mental health declining and them becoming more withdrawn. Meddings shows the importance of friends supporting one another, especially when a friend is having a bad mental episode. Although people might think twos company and threes a crowd, thankfully Socks accepts their new friend and what they bring to the group after realising they aren’t so different after all.
The drawings Meddings includes are simple and sweet, showing how depression and anxiety can feel to suffers. Everyone should enjoy these graphic novels, they’re quick reads and heartwarming. The only reason I haven't given it more stars is because I'd like these texts to go deeper into these issues, currently the YA rating softens the results of mental health a bit, but this is understandable due to the chosen audience market.
