I dont know what I expected from this book but it was beautiful. Angelou's poems felt like a hug and a warm embrace. I enjoyed a handful of poems from this book .

Maya Angelou is one of my favorite poets. I can't help but whisper her poems aloud, to a beat. And the double meanings get me every time.

I don’t often ‘click’ with poetry, I appreciate it, but poetry books I have read in the past haven’t really interested me at all. This was so different, Maya Angelou’s poetry is so vivid and beautiful, it tells a story, it gives you a snapshot of many lives, scenes and ideas. I think I bookmarked about half the pages in this book as my ‘favourite poem’. I loved it.
