This was my least favorite Ruth Ware novel to date. I've loved all of her other work. But the women in this novel were whiney, witless, and annoying, and I did not have the patience for it. Maybe it was better in print than in audio format. I love Imogen Church, but she can't do a New York American accent. The audio was over 15 hours long, and I slogged through it, leaving me disappointed.

Kind of slow start, but kept me intrigued at the end!

If Lo made good decisions there would have been no novel, but she repeatedly made spectacularly bad ones.  And there were some hanging threads at the end which I found annoying.

While I love Ruth Ware, I must be honest and admit The Woman in Cabin 10 is probably my least favorite of hers - so I wasn't sure about the sequel going into it. Now I wish I had reread the original novel, so I would remember some of these characters and the events better. This was a twisty follow up, that I suspect I enjoyed more than than it's predecessor, though I'll confess it's still not a favorite. But it has Ware's signature style, tone, and suspense.

3⭐️ Lo Blacklock returns as a freelance journalist post-pandemic now that she has a family. When she receives an invitation to a new luxury hotel she can’t pass it up. Once she gets there, she runs into quite a few people from her past. She wonders if it’s a coincidence. Once reunited with a particular character, I feel like she becomes very naive and makes stupid decisions.

Overall this was very slow paced and hard to get into. I really had to push myself to see it through. I was impressed by the first book the woman in cabin 10. But I feel like it didn’t really need this sequel.

Lo has recovered from her ordeal on the cruise ship, had a couple of kids, survived Covid and is preparing to get back into working. When she is sent an invite to an exclusive Hotel launch in Switzerland - run by the Leidmann group - she sees it as the ideal opportunity to test the waters.
Her journey begins with an unexpected upgrade to first class, and when she arrives she is met by a number of guests that were on the cruise with her. Another familiar face - very much unexpected - pops up, with a crazy scheme she needs Lo’s help with.
What follows is preposterous.
The story involves a murder which Lo is arrested for, and her desperate attempts to prove her innocence. Truly unbelievable!
