I love all of these charming, smart, funny books and will read them for as long as he writes them, but this one is special. Osman writes about dementia with a clarity and tenderness that comes from losing his own grandparents to it, and the depiction of it in this book frequently moved me to tears amidst the chuckles and whodunnit.
Good humor, poignancy, great characters. Such a fun and satisfying read.

So rare that a series just gets better as it goes. This may be my favorite book of the series. I live seeing how the characters change. Also, the secondary plot line in this book broke my heart. I don’t think a mystery novel has ever made me cry, but I cried for like 4 chapters in this book. It was great.
I knew I’d be sad to turn the last page on this book. And I was right! Even moreso because next on Osman’s list is a book with a new set of characters (though he promised to return to the Thursday Murder Club in the future). So the wait may be long. I tried to read this book slowly to savor it, but I didn’t always succeed.
The Last Devil to Die was deeper and more emotional than the others in the series — grappling with aging and difficult topics in a way that I don’t remember from the first three. Highly recommend all 4 books in this series!

This book made me laugh and cry. Literal tears streaming down my face. This is a more emotional book than the others in the series, but it maintains the humor and mystery of the previous books.
