These books are perfect.
Perfect blend of plot intrigue and character development. Perfect mixture of humor with serious moments. Perfect amount of dog interactions.
I want to be Joyce when I grow up.

I’m obsessed with these characters. Their background stories and present day situations. There is a part in this book that really hits the heart to examine what would we do for those we love. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2

Perhaps my favorite, even though I actually managed to call a couple of things right off the bat that aren’t revealed until the last 10% (a first for me with these books!). I just love these characters and it is such a pleasure both watching their antics and seeing their relationships grow and evolve. And, yes, this one made me sob several times!

A slightly more serious tone in this outing of the Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim. They are old friends to us readers now - we love them, we care for them, they mean something to us. They have made living in a retirement village actually something that many people approaching a certain age may well be enticed to do. It could be fun! But murder is never fun. And in the first chapter a gentleman we met in the previous story - antiques dealer Kuldesh Sharma - is murdered. Old friend of Elizabeth's husband Stephen, this is really quite shocking to the four of them. They set about to solve this murder, taking them into the local heroin underworld and its unsavoury characters. There are more murders leading to considerable confusion as to who is doing what to who. In the midst of all this Stephen's dementia becomes problematic and Elizabeth finds more of her time is taken with him leaving Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim in their fabulously unique way to solve the murder(s). Police officers Donna and Chris are just as lovely as ever, Bogdan is divine. Best character on ground - Alan the dog.
