this cannot be in the same series as the first book. ember in the ashes was incredible and this was such a lackluster finale. i was so aggravated by the repetitive plot points that, by the time were finally concluded, i just stopped caring and thought "finally". the last 40 pages was where it finally gave the same energy as the first book, but i still feel like a lot was just nonsense. loved the first two, last two fell flat. win some and lose some.
