All right, guys. We made it.

This series is a steaming bowl of emotionally unstable chicken-noodle soup.

On day one, the soup is so warm and comforting, exciting and new, homey and darling, with elements you can't help but enjoy, but somebody slipped carrots and celery in there and now you feel like crying.

However, as the days go by, the soup - which is mostly a happy experience - thickens, just like this plot.

Book four might have been my favorite of the series. Admittedly, I didn't just fall into it like I did books two and three. It took me a few chapters to reintegrate and no, it wasn't because I took a break from the series.

However, it is the character content we knew we desperately needed. The second half of the book is by far my favorite time of the whole ride. There is danger, you're on the cusp of resolution, tension is high, characters are growing, banter is excellent, but you're not let of the hook.

Tahir never had any intention of letting you read this book with strictly warm, fuzzy feelings.

At this point, if the characters don't feel like family to you, your heart is made of bedrock and even a diamond pick-axe can't get to you.

Unfortunately, what that means for all of us with hearts ranging from butter to cobblestone, is we've got some shattering/melting in our future. I cried over these characters as I finished their story with them. I felt profound relief and aching heartbreak when the end came and it was time to walk away.

Tahir, may I just say, well done. You built a world of family and friends that gripped my heart. I'll miss these guys, but I'm so incredibly glad you can't torture them anymore.
Sincerely, a fan.

A great finish for the series. It took me longer to finish because i struggle with longer books, but the last 20% passed very quickly because it had multiple povs.
i like the ending, i already expected everyone to die except the MCs, so I'm not shocked the closest people to them died.
Helene really went through it this book. I feel like she's the only one with a bittersweet ending because she's alone. tbh, i wouldn't have minded if they became a throuple lol... but i like the friendship with musa that could develop into more maybe in the sequels?? 🤩
I will definitely be checking out the new series in the future!

Not too proud to admit that I did cry multiple times throughout the last third of this book
