I loved this book but I am glad that it is over. The suffering and the death of some of the characters I grew to love was hard to read. There were points in the story where I just did not understand how things would get better especially with Keris. I suppose this is what makes a great story and this book was just that...great.

Im happy yet sad at the ending but I always respect a writer who makes tough choices in their writing.

I loved this series.

As the final book of the series, this book certainly delivered on a grand finale. However, it did feel overly long and tedious to read through.

Laia - I enjoyed her chapters in the first two books, but she developed into a character who just doesn’t listen. Time and time again, her allies warn her, or even the Soul Catcher/Elias gave her a plan to stick to, and she deviates from it!

Helene - since when did she become such close friends with Laia? Granted, there is a bit of a time skip between the third and fourth books, but after spending the previous three books chasing and vowing to kill Laia, it’s hard to accept that they’re suddenly friends. (Also, it’s a little awkward to fall in love with the man who tortured her…)

The Soul Catcher - his chapters were good but primarily focused on “conceal (more like squash), don’t feel”.

Now Keris - her single chapter was so out of place and brought little to the story. However, it was tragic that her last peaceful moment was when she was a child.

I think this was a solid ending to this series. Looking back, I don’t know if I was ever fully invested in this, but I think it was a solid series overall. For this book in particular, it did start to feel a tad monotonous. There were a lot of very similar scenarios which made the middle drag. I’m happy I read this series though and I understand why it is a favorite for many!

Sabaa Tahir’s A Sky Beyond the Storm delivers a powerful and emotionally charged conclusion to the An Ember in the Ashes series. One of the most satisfying aspects for me was how the resolution subtly tied back to the very first chapter of the first book, bringing the story full circle in a way that felt both intentional and deeply meaningful.

Laia, Elias, and Helene’s journeys were raw and deeply felt, each shaped by loss, sacrifice, and resilience. The novel didn’t shy away from the harsh realities of war, and while it offered hope, it also carried the weight of everything they had endured. Tahir’s evocative prose made their struggles feel real, capturing the complexity of their choices and the lingering impact of their fight.

This finale wasn’t just about tying up loose ends—it was about embracing both joy and grief as intertwined parts of life. It left me satisfied yet contemplative, a rare and meaningful balance that will stay with me long after the final page.
