A beautifully written book which captivated me in parts. I loved the poetry and bird references throughout, and Nell's chapters when she is abroad. Some parts were difficult to read and weren't enjoyable - I do wish I skipped those pages.

Unflinching, graphic and difficult to read at some points.. but written so lyrically. The prose in this is simply gorgeous, but sprinkled with vulgarity in a way I've never seen combined before. Very interesting read.

Whilst the writing was nice enough, I just couldn’t get into this book. None of the characters were very likeable apart from Carmel and I found that there was lack of a plot but also kind of lack of character building as well? Too much emphasis on (bad) sex from two main characters. Just lacked substance for me.
