I really enjoyed reading the book. In the beginning, I had difficulties to bond with the main character, but grew to like him over the course of the story. The novel is not very eventful but captured me through the attentive descriptions of everyday life, relationships and facing oneself.

As others have written, it's a "quiet" novel.

I'm just not so convinced by the background story of the main character who is super rich and was orphaned as a child. Part of the story then is how he deals with his privileges and his trauma. I feel like these tropes appear inproportionately often in novels to make the plot more dramatic or sth - which wouldn't have been necessary for the perspectives and themes the book explores. In a way. Not completely sure yet what to make of it.

It was fine, but not for me. I like a cozy slice of life but in Dinosaurs I found the characters difficult to connect with. The whole story felt like a series of bullet points. And speaking of which, I was becoming irritated by the the punctuated, one-word or fragmented sentences by the end. Choppy. I didn’t care about Gil and  found him weak. Maybe I’m more of a Lane than a Sarah.

A beautiful novel reflecting on love, loss, and privilege. How do we navigate the world when we are put in positions not chosen by us?
