This was a bit... weird. Ambitious, but I feel like it fell a little short. For example, the story took place over the course of centuries, but the link between the times felt tenuous at best; there was a link, but it never felt genuine, if that makes sense. I think each story was interesting on its own, but putting them all in one novel somehow detracted from all of them, in my opinion. Reminded me a bit of Cloud Atlas in its aspirations and time-spanning stories, but like Cloud Atlas, didn't quite live up to its potential.

Absolutely masterful. One of my top books of the year for sure. The way Anthony describes things and strings together words is beautiful. For six POVs to connect that well when stretched over literal centuries is amazing, so well done. I'm really glad I read this, would not have enjoyed nearly as much as an audiobook.

Definitely going on to my favorites shelf. This book was tough to begin with, with a really slow burn but wow is it worth the time and effort. It made me cry in the end, a beautiful reflection on the human experience and how we all have a piece of thread in the tapestry of history. It underlines the importance of story telling, committing ourselves to what we believe important and true to ourselves, and the value of home and being content with our corner of the earth. So so beautiful I’m sorry to have finished it.
