This was 10/10 from start to finish. Loved the world, the magical system, all the back story we have, and the side characters, as well as a great villain and plot. We also got a great slow burn between an adorable broody MMC and a fun badass FMC, both of them older than our usual characters we see. I was very pleasantly surprised to see something other than a centuries old age gap.

i felt like this book was taking waaayyyyyyy too long to get interesting. i’m already 100 pages in and still very confused at all the different names of worlds, people, etc

Quite liked this book to start, the world building, the characters, the plot, I was devouring it. But I started to lose interest as the plot progressed (and got a bit dragged out and anticlimactic). And by the very end- too lovey-dovey for my liking. I could believe that they had grown together and had a genuine relationship, but maybe I just dislike a multiple page confession of undying love? Last chapter was great though. Nice little unhinged ending
