After several murder mysteries solved in other parts of the world (snowy Cambridge, humid Hong Kong, and theatrical London) the girls return to Deepdean School. I'm not 100% sure why they are so attached to this school, particularly Hazel, because it sounds awful, but I guess the fact that it gave her Daisy, the Detective Society, and her other dorm-mates is enough. Yet another murder occurs. Inspector Priestley is along for the ride, . The plot of this one veered into convolutedness, which at times I wasn't sure I enjoyed (maybe it was the fact that it was 4.30 in the morning), but in the end things were resolved quite admirably.

this time treating the girls as colleagues and superior to the local police, which was a nice change from their constant problem of being seen as interfering little girls

This is another great mystery by Stevens that keeps you guessing to the end. Really enjoyed reading this latest instalment in the series. I couldn’t have predicted the end but I am not that great at predicting. Throughly recommend if you are a fan of the series.
