Loved the focus on King Ludwig and Neuschwanstein, but honestly this plot felt like an old plot on replay. Always love Scott Brick’s narration though!

Honestly, this was probably my own fault for not realizing how right-leaning this book is. This book is so aggressively written by an old white man that if I didn't look up the author halfway through the book, I still could have guessed it was written by an old white man. First of all, the main character is named Cotton and his ancestors are loyal to the Confederates. Then he has a character that specifically "didn't particularly care for the Chinese". There is a big difference between not liking the Chinese government and not liking "the Chinese", the latter of which is infinitely more offensive. He also writes a character that likes to play chicken due to his Tenessee upbringing which just casually mentions that he grew up in the days before seatbelts and the way he says it really just emphasizes that he thinks certain things are for people who are soft. This book is written by a good ol' boy, read it at your own risk

What used to be can’t miss reading has now become I can miss reading. I have read every Cotton Malone, story/novella and this was dreck. And this was the worst of all.

Zero action.

Zero intrigue.

Plot IDEA, would have been fascinating if it was actually carried out. But….it wasn’t.

Don’t waste your time with this one.

Great plot and historical references as always, but this wasn’t one of my favorites. We barely get to see Cotton in action and there were way too many characters involved. It sort of made things convoluted.

Another fantastic Cotton Malone book. It’s been about 3 months since I read one out of the series and this book has pulled me back in to continue reading the series to catch up fully.

This has been my least favorite Steve Berry book and I've read every single one of his books.
It hurts me to give less than a great review on one of his books but this one felt off. Too many characters and too little Cotton Malone.
Hoping he's back on track for the next one.
