A truly gripping thriller - Michael Crichton is one of the few authors whose novels legitimately deserve the label “page-turners”. The buildup and horror elements are brilliantly conceived, as is the scientific background supporting the plot throughout.
Unfortunately, the conclusion leaves the reader staring at the book in his hands, wondering with a jolt where the all-important climax has hidden itself. It’s a bit like bracing yourself for a ten-foot fall and finding you’ve only stepped off the curb into the street. All that adrenaline and nowhere to release it.
