This book was really not for me - so slow and boring. I wouldn't have finished but it was for a book club.

While this book had a very slow start for me, by the halfway point I was rushing to reach the end. This was beautifully written and connected so intentionally to Frankenstein. I already want to read it again. Also I am not usually one to read the author's note at the end of a book, but this one brought me to tears.
Ended up not being that interested in the story
this book had some slow sections but i listened to it as an audiobook and the narrator was great. beautifully written queer and feminist take on frankenstein

This book was so whacky but also so unique. An unexpected 5 star read. I loved the strong female characters. It was a little long but gripping, interesting, full of surprises. I also loved the title and cover. All around great read.

Dinosaurs eat man, women inherit the earth.
This book is as if Frankenstein took place alongside Jurassic Park. Really interesting concept, and maybe I’m biased by my own life experience here but it easily lends itself to an extended metaphor on the blood and guts of womanhood and motherhood in whatever way that may present itself. It was a little slow going for me, but it is a lovely homage to Frankenstein while also wholly developing its own identity. I definitely look forward to reading more by C.E. McGill.

Moderate: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Misogyny
Minor: Child death
I have not read Frankenstein; maybe I would have liked this more if I had? I appreciated the strong female character but it was just too consistently infuriating to read about her inability to succeed or be recognized for her scientific work & her belittling by others; it exhausted me. I also wasn’t terribly interested in the plot but it was well written and somewhat interesting
