Terribly gross, awkward, and just no. Very unrealistic to the point where their thoughts were more unrealistic than the supernatural element. Most of this book is just bad, tacky erotica. I will be reading the next book only because I have to finish a series once I start it.

Amazing Imagery

This is the first book in Kym Grosso's immortals of New Orleans series and my first book I've read of hers. I loved every minute of it. She has a talent for imagery and is very creative when choosing different names to describe a certain male body part. Ha!

The tension between Kade and Sydney jumped off the page. You can just feel is alpha maleness and her inability to submit. She was a strong heroine who stayed true to herself.

Paranormal romance is a genre is something I am warming up to and this series makes it easier to fall in love with. I can't wait to read the next book. Bring on Luca!

Thank you!

Okay but something about it irritated me. Sydney was a typical badass mf detective that wouldn't let anyone boss her around.
Here lays the first thing that annoyed me. I get it, you are no damsel and don't want to be saved because you think you are badass enough to help yourself....yes normally maybe that's true but we talking about supernatural vampires who you don't have any chance against. So it irritated me that she didn't want the help from Kade and the others even after she was nearly killed at her own home.
Also one thing that annoyed me to the max was Tristan.... I'm not sure if there is a love triangle or if he just stires up drama but sydney sleeps with him in the beginning. So I really really hate love triangles and avoid them like the plague. So as I'm not sure if it really is one I dnf'ed for safety reasons ;)
I also just wasn't in the story...a lot of talking about sex and not that much story line. I don't know...I just wasn't totally invested in them so I gave up at 50%

Firstly can I say I'm a traditionalist when it comes to vampire stories. Anyone who knows me knows just how much I despise all things sparkly. However this book was recommended to me and I will always give books a chance and can I say I was not disappointed by this book. Ok some of the traditional folklore has been changed but only slightly (no sparkling thank goodness). Kade was exactly how lead vamps should be, dark, dangerous but as sexy as hell, the female lead Sydney was a kick ass, feisty lady and certainly no damsel in distress. All in all a book I never expected to enjoy but I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend.

The story it self has promise and is enjoyable, but the writing is pretty bad. Conversations are atrocious; the authors attempt to use older phrasing for certain characters falls short and results in clunky sentences. The pacing is also incredibly odd, she’ll have a page or two with a stream of consciousness regarding a characters lust and then pack a major plot point down to one page. With a good editor I think this could be a 4 star story, just needs a lot polish.

There’s a good story here, I want to read the next book in the series…but the telling of that story is disjointed. Sometimes the timeline is off and the sequence of events becomes difficult to follow. Moreover, the actual relationship between the main characters feels forced and fake—it’s never really developed. Just accepted as a given.

I like the way the author moves through different characters’ perspectives—sometimes devoting just a paragraph to a character, sometimes more.

All in all, I want to like this book, but it’s not a fave. I’m going to try the second one in the series because I liked the premise of the story and hope it’s less forced and more cohesive.

Again this book took me a long time to finish. I am not sure why.
Could be I didn't really like Kade.... I know shock right. I liked Tristan more, I can only assume this is why it has taken me months to finish.

I just found Kade to be domineering and its my way or no way kind of thing and I don't really like that.
Sydney is a strong kick ass character she can't be cowed to this vamp.
Freaking Vamps claim and don't tell the victim any of this I hate that. I thought it was a partnership. You belong to me. Bonded. Blindly give up her life to be with him. Frustration.

I did like that a vamp is best friends with a wolf. That was cool. And Witch's are in this book along with mageri's too very cool.

Even though I wasn't a fan of this book, its not going to stop me from getting book 2.

What a fabulous read!!! And it was an Amazon Freebie!!! Watch for it and snag this bad boy up for yourself!!!

The story her was very involved and flowed beautifully!! I was with it from beginning to end!! Really rich story telling that created a fabulous atmosphere! What a great way to kick off the series and give us some delicious paranormals to look forward to in the future!!

Sydney is a really kickbutt chick with serious attitude, maybe a touch too much at times. I will give her a pass though cause she is totally a Philly girl and that is how they are! She gets better in the end and I totally loved her!!

Kade is very delicious tall dark handsome Vamp!! He is rather swoon worthy and very Alpha!!! I loved that he was quick to recognize Syd as the one!

Loads of yummy supporting characters to make a gal drool!! And definite hints at the next book!! I will be jumping into that book head first!! I don't really need to sleep until I finish the series!

The mixed narrative is great but at times disconcerting. It is always clear who the narrator is but it changes from paragraph to paragraph. At times I got a little motion sick trying to keep up. Really fabulous hearing from supporting characters too! It made the story fuller.

The steam is delicious!! It is more of a tease for most of the book but once they get it on, holy hot and heavy!! Some very slippery shower action and a desk scene to make you scream!! There is a visit to a BDSM club and mention of tying up but no real play happens for these characters. Perhaps it will be a part of future books.

Ms. Grosso is on my radar now and definitely on my stalking...um, following lists!! Really fabulous and creative series with plenty of story to back up the steamy action!!
