The main thing that drew me in with this book was the cover. Then to find out it was a paranormal investigation romance? I was a goner.
I loved the storyline in this book with Kades ex-lover going to crazy lengths to get him back, to the point of carrying out crazy rituals around the city through witch voodoo. It had so much potential, however, the story fell short. Kade and Sydney's romance had so much more potential, especially with the sexual tension. Sydney's reactions seemed to be jumpy instead of fluent and I couldn't connect with the insta-attraction (not love) that them two seemed immediately feel at the beginning of the story.
I was also slightly confused about the multiple male POV's. I didn't feel as if there was a need for them, when there was Kade and Sydney's. I'll definitely be reading more of the series to see if I can get into the books more because I love the sound of them, but this one just fell short.

DNF she was so unbelievably annoying. Just let the strong sexy vampire take care of you.
I loved the story. I love Kade. I bought Luca's Magic Embrace the day it came out because I loved this book SO much. I love the immortals of New Orleans. Can't wait for Tristian's book!
Kade’s Dark Embrace
This was not a a good one for me. I absolutely love PNR but, I couldn’t get into this one at all. The plot itself is excellent. It made me want to read the story. However, the story itself didn’t have the flow that it needed to really grip me and hold me until the last page. The conversations between the characters especially turned me off. It was entirely too rigid and made reading a bit painful for me. Even the internal dialogues felt that way.
Even though the plot summaries sound really interesting, I will not be continuing this series.

I'm on the fence with this book. One the one hand, it had a great storyline with a crazy voo doo practicing vampire bent on revenge against the man/vampire she sees as a King to her Queen. It was fresh twist on witches and vampires warring with one another. I enjoyed the investigations that Sydney, Kade and the NOLA vampire crew had to go through in order to ferret out information about the evil Simone and the eventual showdown with her in a New Orleans cemetery. On the other, I'm not really sure I liked Sydney and Kade.
When we first meet Sydney she's all twitchy because she needs to have sex to blow off steam. Then there is that "six sense" that lets her know every time Kade is near. And let's not speak of her over-the-top Alpha/bitchiness. I was convinced that there had to be something supernatural within her. So I was disappointed to discover that there wasn't anything, it was just Sydney being Sydney...she was just a harsh, in-your-face, type of woman. OK, that worked for me as she was investigating the case. But she brought that same attitude into the bedroom with Kade and it made me wonder just what exactly he saw in her that had him continually going after her and reminding her that she was his. It wasn't like we ever really got into Sydney's head to figure out why she acted the way she does...it was just her.
Then there was Kade. Now his attitude I was ok with, considering he fit the mold of an Alpha vampire keeping his city in order. But the way he dealt with Sydney was almost like he assumed she would acquiesce to his demands like everyone else. Giving the fact that she was in his face from the very first moment he met her, I was scratching my head trying to figure out why he thought she would even remotely do what he asked.
While being on the fence, I'm going to lean towards rating this one the side of the storyline. While the romance between Kade and Sydney plays a role to the storyline, I think my issues with them as characters can be pushed aside because the storyline was strong and kept my interest right up until the end of the big battle.

Sydney is supposed to be enjoying a night off when she get's the call that she's needed for work. Upon arriving at the recent victim it's unclear if the case is a human killer or paranormal which determines who gets the case. When she encounters the paranormal investigator she can't deny the attraction to him but she's determined to send him on his way. Kade arrived in town with the assumption that a vampire is the one who's causing trouble. It should be a quick trip stake the vampire and return to New Orleans but he never expected to meet Sydney and she changes the rules.
I love Sydney she's a tough kick ass detective who's not afraid to square off with the vampires those trying to kill her and she's falling for. I also love Kade he's the kind of vampire you want to sweet you off your feet. They have this instant connection that they both clearly can't deny, and it's just steamy. I love the tough vampire and strong detective combo they just complement each other so well.
I enjoyed Kade's Dark Embrace so much it's a fast paced action packed steamy romance. I really connected with Sydney she's just adorable and I adored reading her love story with Kade. I ended up devouring the book in just a few short hours it was easy getting drawn into the story. The author does a lovely job of blending the hunt for the killer with the romance between the main characters.
This is my first book by the author and I'm hooked she has done a beautiful job creating a captivating story that I couldn't put down. I loved the way that the book ended with just enough of a teaser that sets up for the next one. The author has done a beautiful job creating engaging characters and an amazing story. Perfect for fans of paranormal romance. I can't wait to read the rest of the series and see some HEA for the character we've met so far.

This is how you do paranormal!! I'm very picky and critical about my paranormal reads but this book was well written. The storyline, the characters, the connection everything was just great! I can't wait to read the next book.
Kade
Alpha, possessive males. Vampires, werewolves, fetish clubs, what more could a girl ask for? Kym definitely delivers with Made in Immortals. Definitely a 5* read
