A good book reaching into a mind of someone who is a functional psychopath. This shouldn't be the last book you read about psychopaths, as James mentions a lot of good people he worked with throughout his time dealing with this. You can definitely see how he himself describes his feelings towards others and how he understands why this is.

What would you do if you discovered you were a psychopath? On most days, I'm immersed in fiction, but this book by neuroscientist James Fallon is well worth the read. A deep dive into the psychopathic brain--gray matter, symptoms, etc--and a personal tale of discovery. Any mystery lover will adore this non-fiction read.

This is the story of a man who found out at a late age that his brain scan shows strong signs of psychopathy. The book gives a lot of brain science as well as reflection over his life and behavior. I'm not giving a rating due to the author's section on what was labeled his most psychopathic trait, his penchant for revenge.

This book was incredibly boring to read and was written in a way that seems the author is looking for a pat on the back. The author throughout seems to be very arrogant and the narrator for the audio book did not help this at all. I thought I was going to learn more about why people do some of the things they do and instead we hear more about the author's personal experiences and thoughts/feelings than the science of how the brain works.

A beautiful way for my interests in psychology and true crime to collide! While this book doesn't go into any crimes, it gives you a solid foundation to work with and perhaps get a peek into the minds of those that, for many of us, are simply incomprehensible. The technical explanations can be a little hard to follow if you're not a scientist, but I can see how they're necessary.
The fact that we're following James Fallon on his journey of self-discovery of his own mind is a unique way of dissecting what a "psychopathic mind" is. I really enjoyed it!

A very interesting read that will stimulate the hypochondriac in many. The writing is informal and fun except in the more technical passages, where diagrams help explain the complex interactions between neurochemicals. The discussion of 'nature vs. nurture' is particularly interesting. Fast read.
