Brilliant! Sexy, creepy, moving. It kept me on my toes and I can't wait for the second one.

This is probably not as bad as you think it is.

Problematic author aside, this was actually an enjoyable read. I still have no idea why this book is nearly 700 pages long, especially because the plot felt like it was dragging on at the beginning and it took every ounce of strength in my body to not DNF this, but it wasn't bad. The writing isn't anything spectacular by any means, and I feel like there was plenty of telling and not that much of showing (my grammar skills are impressive), but it was tolerable.

Emma and Julian are strong characters and it's been a long while since I last touched the TMI series (I haven't even finished yet), but, from what I remember, I don't think Emma is the female version of Jace (just because they're both blonde and have a relatively similar personality, it doesn't mean they're carbon copies of each other. Come on) and she was really refreshing to read.
