**SPOILERS AHEAD**
I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with how things started out in this book, but Westerfeld really pulled through and gave us a great ending. And while some of the things that happened towards the end were sad (RIP ZANE 😢), I think that was the only catalyst that would have worked to get Tally back on the track she really needs to be on. And I like knowing she's out there, guarding against a regression while still allowing people to really be free.
I'm looking forward to the final book AND the spin-off series.

It’s such an inspiring read for 2022. I’m shocked at how timeless the story feels but yet at the same time so relevant to nearly everything going on today.
Climate change, capitalism, bodily autonomy, gaslighting/abuse, mental illness (especially due to unstable political environment), prejudice, and so much more.
I’m still convinced Westerfeld knew that Tally and Shay’s relationship leans very heavily in a queer direction. I really REALLY hope they make the screen adaptation more inclusive of queer and other marginalized identities. And thoughtfully, not just for “woke points”.
Besides some ableist language throughout the first three books and those couple slur slip ups in the second book, this is definitely still one of my favorite series of all time.
So much fun to read, can’t wait to re-read Extras and then to move on to the new material. 🤗

I personally felt like the story should have been told in 1st person, as I would sometimes forget that it was supposed to be in 3rd and then I'd get jarred back into that. That is completely my own problem and probably won't be an issue for other readers.
I ended up giving this book another shot because my friend is reading the series now and wanted me to try again so she could talk to me.
In the end, I am glad that I gave it another shot because it did get more interesting and entertaining. After all these years I'm just happy to say that I was able to finish it.
