Coco delivers again! I could just tell she had an MFA from Cleopatra & Frankenstein, but not in the usual pretentious way that I find very obnoxious. She has such a beautiful and haunting way with words and I loved the tenderness, complexity, and rawness of this book. I love unlikeable characters that experience great growth with the reader. This book is a genuine snapshot of sisterhood, addiction, love, loss, and family systems theory that will stay with me. Coco’s stories are certainly not for everyone and I love that she writes not to please, but to provoke deep thought and emotion. My only suggested edit is I really wish we got a chapter from Nikki’s perspective! I would’ve loved to see how she saw the family dynamics and her sisters.

This book had some gorgeous passages which really stuck with me, if i was more objective it may have been more of a 4 star as it could lean towards slightly cringey/cliche at times however the relatability toward the topics of chronic pain, addiction, family dynamics and grief really bumped it up for me

a truly beautiful book though maybe not for everybody
