Holy page turner. I started this book this morning during my normal reading hour and I couldn't put it down. Fans of Vampire Academy, Buffy, and Bloodlines will absolutely love this. Perfectly paced and full of twists and turns, I am very much so looking forward to reading the next installment.

I'm a huge Cassidy Summers' fan. And I'm also a fan of this book after reading it.
Bianca is going to an academy for supernatural 'slayers' where she'll specialize in combat fighting to take down supernatural creatures that harm humans. She's with her best friend Jacinta, and Daniel and Trey are her close friends.
It's her last year of school, and her new combat instructor is also the guy she has a crush on; but there just a little problem - if she acts on it, she'll lose her place at the academy. But when a nightmare from the past comes back to haunt her again, it is Rylan, her instructor, who helps her save herself.

I was kindly provided with an ARC by the author, but I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Just WOW!

It was a slow start getting into this book but once I was in ... I was IN! Bianca is a dynamic character with lofty goals & a whole LOT of sassitude. She does not that sh!t from anyone and she is finally where she has always dreamed of being ... Senior Year @ The Guard Academy! Oh & she got her specialization ... Combat Training! She has been working towards this for at least 9 years! With her best friends Jacinta, Trey & Daniel by her side she thinks the world is her oyster.

Daniel springs that he has real feelings outside of friendship on her after she has started developing feelings for someone she shouldn't even be thinking about!

There were more than a few times I teared up while reading this book. It is well written with engaging enough characters that I actually felt the sadness, fury, rage, panic & pain right along with the character! I can't wait for the next book!

I received this as an Advance reader copy with the hopes I would read it & review it.

Happy release day for Soul & Disaster! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Going into this book, I was aware it probably wasn’t going to be my usual genre. This is definitely more YA romance/paranormal and I’m an adult fantasy reader. I do enjoy a YA guilty pleasure piece every once in a while, though. The author definitely knows how to write a fast paced novel. I went in more interested in the Slayer Academy, as I’ve always loved things including Slayers and Vampires. I wish a little more of the focus was on the academy and less on the romance, but that’s just me and it’s not my novel.

One thing that truly disappointed me, was while our main character is made out to be a badass, there’s more of a focus on her looks than anything. I fully believe a woman can be beautiful, strong, and smart... but I like to see more focus on the latter two than the former. There was a moment where the main character was also told to cover up her bikini while in front of male characters because it was asking for trouble. That just made me cringe and it sends a bad message to the likely audience of this book, teenage girls. Telling girls that males not being able to control their gazes or action is THEIR bodies’ fault is something we shouldn’t perpetuate.

Also, the villain of the story was talked about the entire time and taken out in two seconds.

That being said, if you want a paranormal/YA romance, you’ll likely enjoy this. I am curious where the story will go and will read the next installment to see how things progress.

I really loved Soul and Disaster! It’s similar to a lot of other academy romances - sassy heroine, paranormal world and a new romance. But in this book, supernaturals are bad, and Guard Academy trains humans to protect other humans from the supernaturals. Bianca is the only girl in her class and has to fight to prove she has what it takes. Her beyond sexy instructor doesn’t help things one bit. This book is fast paced and fun to read! I liked the characters and the romance. I definitely recommend this book and I’m going to read the next in the series ASAP!

This book sucked me in right from the start. What an amazing read. While reading, I found that Soul and Disaster has a medley of buffy the vampire slayer, The Vampire Academy series and a bit of the Hives Trilogy books that i love.

Bianca wants to become a guardian but needs to prove herself to all the boys being the only girl in her final year in combat class. Between her full schedule of combat training and school, falling for her teacher, her shenanigans with her BFF Lucy and friends Trey and Daniel, you can't help to fall in love with this story and all these wonderful characters like i did. Grab this gem, sit back and enjoy your read!

I really feel like this is a hidden gem. It’s action packed, funny, spunky, sarcastic, all with a badass heroine. I loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest of this amazing series.

Bianca is a senior at The Guard Academy with her 3 best friends--Jacinta, Trey & Daniel. The first day of classes she forgets her phone in her room & rushing to get there she literally runs in to a solid wall, or rather what turns out to be solid muscle of hotness. Her final class of the day is combat training & she's the only girl with nine boys. Four of those boys are Trey, Daniel, her ex-boyfriend & his best friend. The two teachers come in & she knows the female, Tessa, who used to be her dad's partner in the Guard. The other one is the man that she spilled coffee all over that very morning, Rylan. Daniel has feelings for Bianca, but she doesn't feel it for him as she has a crush on Rylan. Her attraction to Rylan increases every day, and he always seems to be around when she gets in trouble or causes trouble. When she finds out that her father had an affair with his partner, she finally lets her anger get the better of her & slaps her across the face. When she turns 18, she's supposed to have a Navigation test where she has 48 hours where she has to spend it with Tessa. When she shows up the morning she's to leave for the test, she finds Rylan waiting on her & will be who takes her out to supervise the Navigation test. During the test, they both give in to their attraction with a super steamy kiss. It's absolutely forbidden for them to be together as student & teacher.

As a child, Biance witnessed her father's murder at the hands of a vampire. She keeps hearing stories about a vampire who forces children to watch the murder of their parent(s). Bianca knows it has to be the same one, and on an outing with her classmates, they hear noises & she knows it's the vampire who killed her father so they run in.

I love academy stories & this one didn't disappoint me. I loved all of the characters. Some of the story is more focused on classes & Biana's obsession with Rylan, but I didn't think it took away too much from the story. I can't wait for book 2 to be release.
