I LOVE THIS BOOK! An own-voices NB/F contemporary romance. The characters are well-developed and I instantly felt invested. There are moments of hilarity and adorable sweetness, yet also a tender and vulnerable emotional journey for both the characters. I loved watching Dahlia figure out how to live her life on her own terms. It was incredibly moving to see London gain confidence in their identity, both gender-identity and otherwise. I also loved the setting, on the set of a culinary reality TV show. Highly, highly recommend! I will definitely be reading more books by Anita Kelly!

Content warnings: misgendering (from a family member and a side character); father-child conflict; mentions of past depressive symptoms (not explicitly diagnosed); anxiety (portrayed in a loving, compassionate way, not explicitly diagnosed).

Adorbs!!! I love cooking shows so having a romance set in like a Master Chef type of environment was really fun. Dahlia was so sweet and I loved her arc in this. London was a fantastic co-lead character in this romance. Their story arc was my favorite and I loved the dynamic between the two of them.

The “conflict” fell a little more. It didn’t feel like a big enough blow up. And was resolved simply but that didn’t take away from the story much. Just wanted a little more.

Such a refreshing romcom read! F/nb romance, likable characters, all set against the backdrop of a reality tv cooking competition. The best part of this book was the relationship itself, which isn’t a problem because it was so darn cute! And good supporting characters as well, all in all a solid read if you’re looking for some joy added to your day in the form of a simping non-binary who’s a master in the kitchen getting completely frazzled by a whirlwind new chef with chaotic hair.

Cute rom com, good "grumpy x sunshine" story with lovable characters. I was really, truly enjoying this until the toe sucking out of nowhere ew 🤢🤢🤢  soft DNF at 50% because I literally gagged and then read a review that basically said it does not recover from that point and I believe it because ew what was that. I might try to finish it because I do wanna see who wins the cooking show but if there's one more foot fetish moment I am OUT.

5 stars without toe mentions... minus 4 stars for gratuitous and unnecessary foot fetish content in my queer romcom get out of here

update I finished it, great book minus the foot fetish fanservice
