Enjoyable! A bit predictable (to be expected, it's a romance book after all). Both characters were fine, I liked London a bit better than Dahlia, I think. The GBBO-like cooking show is not the greatest framing; the producer villains coming through at the end felt a bit forced and underbaked.
I wanted to like this more than I did. It’s gotten a lot of hype but it was just okay for me. I’m glad about the hype though, because hopefully mainstream publishing seeks out more romances from trans and nonbinary authors, esp BIPOC trans and nonbinary authors

CWs: transphobia, sex scenes
Spoiler alert: the review touches on a popular plot device used at the end of the book.

Overall, I liked this book. I loved the reality show setting and how it was used. I also enjoyed the main relationship and the little connections the had with the other cast members in the show. I don't remember the name of the old lady Dahlia was friends with but she was super cute - I'd read a book just about them cooking and being themselves.
However, if you include a third act break-up/separation you really need to sell it and I don't think the book sold it. I also wasn't a huge fan of how London didn't really need the money from the show because of their family being super rich. It just seemed a bit like class tourism to me.

Love & Other Disasters is a heartwarming, queer, adult romance that follows two contestants on a cooking show in competition to win $100,000.
The w/nb relationship was refreshing to see, as there is very little non-binary representation in media. I can't speak on how good this representation was, however I did like how pronouns were dealt with. There is also pansexual and queer representation too!
Both Dahlia and London were well formed characters with individual personalities and backstories, and their banter made me laugh and smile at points.
Overall, this was a really fun, queer, adult romance and I highly recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC to read and review.
