I have been obsessed with Sally Rooney since Normal People. Beautiful World, Where are You is an exploration into the lives of four people, each with their own unique faults and perspectives. Rooney's characters have always felt more real to me because of how messed up and broken they are. For me, Rooney's novels produce a visceral reaction in which I am so utterly annoyed with these characters. BUT... I love it. Rooney challenges me to accept the world and its people as they are. We cannot control other people. All we can do is sit back and hope they make the best decisions for themselves. And, it might not always be a decision you agree with. I would highly recommend this book as your next read.
