A view week ago I read the first Lenora Bell book called ‘How the Duke Was Won’. I loved that book and I couldn’t get enough of it. So when I received the second book in the series ‘If I Only Had a Duke’ I couldn’t wait to start reading.
In ‘If I Only Had a Duke’ we meet Lady Dorothea. Thea has had a view failed seasons and is now happily living with her aunt in Ireland. Unfortunately for Thea she has to go back to London for a last season. Thea knows this is just a waste of her time. No one would want to marry the girl who can’t even talk to a man! But Thea decides to make the most of her time back in London and tries to talk to Dalton, the Duke of Osborne to convince him to give her access to his late father’s art collection. But the Duke has other plans and soon Thea is one of the most popular girls of the season.
I really loved Lady Dorothea. She was this shy girl on the outside, but when we got to know her better she was very smart, kind, brave and definitely a little feisty. I loved the way she fought to break free of her suppressive family.
Dalton was this supposed ‘bad’ guy. But I soon realized there was so much more to his character. I especially liked how protective Dalton was of Thea. It was so sweet.
And the conversations between Thea and Dalton where very entertaining. I loved reading about their discussions and how frustrated Dalton got with Thea. It definitely made me laugh out loud!
‘If I Only Had a Duke’ was a great story. Not only is it very romantic, and definitely sexy.. There’s also enough action and adventures going on to keep you hooked to the pages. I read this book in one day because I just couldn’t stop reading. The main characters Thea and Dalton have an amazing chemistry and it was so much fun to get to know these two characters.
Lenora Bell did another great job and I can’t wait to read the third book in the Disgraceful Dukes series.

I loved this as much as the first! They stand alone but reading both was nice because I knew the background and the characters and it was nice to see characters further first book make an appearance. This book is about Thea who is tired of doing what her family wants. She wants to live a quiet life as a spinster in Ireland with her aunt. Bug an arrogant Duke has to go and ruin her plans. She's not going to make things easy for him. I love how Thea finds herself in this book. A fun read.

So many implausible things. it wasn't the worst, nor was it the best. I need good new romance authors. or something.

A Keeper!
I'm very excited to have discovered this newer author because her writing is poetic and beautiful and pulled me right in!
It's not very often you get it all in a romance book-mystery, chemistry between the H&H, rich words, beautiful artwork, the perfect sensual scenes, and a wonderful story to go with it all.
I LOVED every part of this book and could not put it down.

If I Only had a Duke (Book 2)
Convinced that she is finally free of marriage, Lady Dorothea is thrown headlong into an adventure with the Duke of Osborne. Great chemistry and dialogue between the two main chancery sand intrigue give this book a great pace. 4/5

Wow! So glad I abandoned my paranormal reading to come back to HR - my very first Lenora Bell - If I Only Had a Duke. Read it in one night and truly loved this story. 4 1/2 stars.
I found Lenora to have a wonderful writing style. Laugh out loud humor in the first half of the book. I loved the characters, they had memorable personalities. I enjoyed spending a fair amount of time in the hero’s head as well as the heroine, which I love!
Our heroine, Thea, has always been a good little girl, attempting perfection for her mother and society. Towards the beginning of the book she’s given a new pair of red boots from a family member. I just love how they symbolize her fiery personality coming to life and her adventures just starting in them. She’s funny, sweet, feisty and I really enjoyed her character.
Our Duke, Dalton, is a Rake with a carefully crafted reputation and a dark secret. A man with pain and barriers erected, he’s not about to let this little innocent woman ruin his plans, or ruin her. Loved the Dukes character. I also really enjoyed his manservant Con. He was a wonderful side character.
You won’t be getting a kiss until 150 pages in and full consummation much much later 😆. I loved the scene that takes place in between those though. I still felt the pull of the main characters through most of the book. There were steamy scenes in the beginning that didn’t even have a kiss. I thought it was well done.
There were a few minor things I didn’t love in the book. I can’t even really say I disliked them, just maybe I wasn’t expecting. I wasn’t in love with the very end and I also wish there was an epilogue further in the future.

Lady Dorothea Beaumont is tired of the marriage mart. She's tired of being shepherded around and made to act the perfect lady in the hopes that she might capture the eye of some titled gentleman. And she's tired of being known as the girl whose illegitimate half-sister "stole" Dorothea's husband. Instead, she'd rather live with her aunt and perhaps catalog the art collection of the Duke of Osborne.
But Dalton, the duke, doesn't believe that an eligible miss would be asking to see his collection just so that she could catalog it. He believes that she has more devious plans. So he does his best to ruin them by waltzing with Dorothea and thus making her popular. Basically plunging her into her worst nightmare. But he doesn't need her distracting him from his true purpose; finding revenge on the man who killed his younger brother.
An okay story but I had problems fitting together all of the pieces. There was a lot going on. A LOT. An interesting book that I think Bell fans will enjoy.
