This is a really well done book that definitely captured my attention, as someone fascinated by cults and survivor stories, and kept or through the storytelling. Our main character and narrator is Moonbeam, a 17 year old girl who survives a siege at the compound she's lived on almost her entire life as part of the Lord's Legion. The story goes back and forth from After the siege as she tells her story to a doctor and federal agent, and the stories she tells from before. The story was inspired by the Waco Siege in the Branch Davidians.

The second book based around a cult I've read so far this year. This one tells the story of Moonbeam, a 17 year old girl who lives in the Holy Church of the Lord's Legion. The story starts with the cult falling, people are dying and the Base is on fire. We then join Moon again in a psychiatric hospital where she is being seen by a doctor and we find out what has happened through a series of flashbacks. Events are shocking but it is a real page turner. I guessed the "secret" but it didn't spoil the book at all.

I don't think it was dealt with enough depth or research. I don't think it was even revised enough times - the last chapter where we find out what the main character actually did is kind of obvious but is not integrated into the story. The only up sides to the story were the voice of the main character, which was plausible and the overall idea, which was fascinating even if the execution kind of ruined it.
