While this story is dated in some aspects (teacher marrying a student, old fashioned childrearing ideas, emphasis on religion), there is also a timeless quality about this book. Anne is a delightful child, who not only charms the other characters in the book, but also the reader.

It feels this was written for every child that has ever been told they talk too much and feel too deeply. This book is for all the dreamers out there, and that is certainly where it connected to my heart.

This story has some truly unique and memorable characters, and what I enjoyed immensely as seeing these characters grow over time. We get to watch Anne grow, but Marilla isn't forgotten either. And all of this is beautifully presented by the wonderful narration by Rachel McAdams.
