I'm too enraged to write a review right now. Aaaahhggrr

While reading this book, we soon come to realise that everything we thought to be true, may not be true at all. Is Tamlin the good guy and is Rhysand the bad guy? Feyre is devastated by what she did to save Tamlin. She had to kill two innocent Fae and it hunts her in her dreams. Their eyes, their blood, all of it. She has nightmares every night and pukes her guts out after each and every one of them.

Tamlin ignores it. He keeps on sleeping. Feyre thinks he might not know, but is almost sure that some nights she can feel him be awake next to her once she comes back to bed. He has his own nightmares to deal with, but he is locking her in his house to protect her from the world outside. (view spoiler) nothing is what it seems in A Court of Mist and Fury. Feyre tries to beat her depression and finds her way to become herself again. The strong huntress she used to be, the strong girl who fought for her man, instead of a trophy wife who isn't allowed to leave the house. The second novel is soo good. It's so sad, exciting and romantic all at once. I haven't felt this way about a book since.. well a long time.

The fact that I swore I would never read this series and yet here we are rating this 5 stars?!? This was perfection. I havent been this engrossed I'm anything since twilight, which was a long long time ago 😅

Also, excuse me but Rhys??? I knew that booksta and booktok was obsessed but I stupidly thought they were exaggerating. They weren't. Rhys is literally E V E R Y T H I N G and im here for it.

Big upgrade from the first book. Spice level increased by a good 40%. Enjoyed watching feyre’s progress and how she flourishes. It was nice to be able to relate to her mental health problems but watching her find herself again and find what life had to offer really just inspires hope in me. I’m excited for the next book albeit I don’t believe any other book in the series will live up to the expectations of this book.

love Feyre the main girl, she’s somewhat realistic & smarter than her old ass peers+mate. love that for her

plot wise, a bit irritated that they took so long in their side quests. Even worse, that they’re so gullible & only have 1 plan on hand to resolve problem. (except Feyre) Y’all live for millennia for what? to only come up with 1 plan
and got trapped
? dont know how y’all survive for this long, that’s dumb af 😭

plot wise 😏,  like the tension between Feyre & her mate. some of the ‘action’ actually progress the plot which i like but sometime it’s a bit wordy and i skipped.

i suggest you read the book. this book is a total page turner. there were 700s pages and i read it in less than 24 hr.

Since getting out from Under the mountain, Feyre is suffering from PTSD, awaking nightly after reliving the trauma of her ordeal in her nightmares. She takes some comfort in her new friend Ianthe and in Tamlin when he takes her to bed, but his overprotectiveness takes a dark turn. As Feyre starts to panic as she’s walking down the aisle to wed Tamlin, she silently begs for someone to save her. Rhysand whisks her away to begin their deal of Feyre staying at the night court one week of every month. When she’s with Rhys, she learns to read and control some of her powers but she withers again when she returns to Tamlin. The final straw is when Tamlin imprisons Feyre in the house “to keep her safe.”

Feyre flourishes as part of the night court and I think it’s the journey we all hope for when someone gets out of a toxic relationship.

A lot of the action sequences start out of nowhere which I don’t love. It feels like its more for shock value than having a purpose to move the plot forward. One battle with good build up was the one in Velaris. There were little hints that something was no right and it showed the crew that they’d been betrayed. Within the battle, Feyre’s powers grew in scale but stayed true to what we saw her training with earlier. I also appreciated that while Feyre can get vicious to defend her city and her people, she’s not immune to the hurt it causes her to kill.

The graphic audio is truly the best way to read these books. The cast is very talented and it feels so much richer. The stakes feel higher and the tension feels much deeper when you can hear a character struggling in the background (the ending, in particular). I’m excited to read the next book with the graphic audio soon!

Content warnings:
Blood, injury, violence (on page):
War is brewing so there’s several little skirmishes, Rhys and Feyre are attacked a few times

Sexual content (on page):
Feyre and Tamlin have sex a few times at the start of the book, she and Rhys have a little flirtationship culminating in a very physical relationship once Feyre calms down about them being mates

Toxic relationship, emotional abuse (on page):
Tamlin and Feyre do not have a healthy relationship. He readily keeps information from her and keeps her in the house as much as possible as an attempt to keep her safe. This culminates in him locking her in the house so she could not follow him and Lucian, after which she gets out.

Panic attacks (on page):
Feyre wakes nightly in a panic from her nightmares, causing her to become a husk of her former self.

Sexual assault (off page):
Rhys tells Feyre his story of being forced into Amarantha’s bed. The discussion goes on for a while and feels worse once Feyre starts thinking of how badly everyone has treated him.

Kidnapping (off page):
Feyre’s sisters are kidnapped from the human world and forced to become fae.

Misogyny, sexism (off page):
So many of these fantasy kingdoms treat women as lesser beings and that’s still the case here. Strongest mentions of mistreatment by the court of nightmare and the Illyrians

Vomit (on page):
it happens several times. You’ve been warned

found Feyre a much more barrable character in this book. Her jello spine eventually became steel and she got some of her sh*t together. Rhysand was delightful in the last book and I loved all the “screen time” he got in this book. As with any book by Sarah, you will be endlessly blue-balled. Her sex scenes are more explicit than usual but everyone freaking out that teens shouldn’t be reading this, obviously forgot a lot of people start masturbating in middle school and f*cking in high school. If it’s not your thing though just skip ahead.

Literally the greatest fantasy romance book of all time….  I ate this book up. It’s very long and yet I read the whole thing in about 2-3 days. When it was over I felt like my life was missing something… that’s how engrossed I was in this book and these characters!

The MC, Feyre, is such a beautiful and well written character inside and out. Her journey from book 1 to book 2 (this book) is so heartbreaking, empowering, and somehow relatable even though it’s fantasy!

I felt this book had really good character development for the MC and also for other characters, specifically, a love interest (who I won’t name so I don’t spoil it).

It has moments of really good action and adventure. Moments of anxiety and you could feel the MC’s feelings of pain and distress. But also moments of a lot of humor and fun and love! This book has so much heart! The spice in the book is amazing, well written and steamy!

I loved it and loved characters and will forever!
