I picked this up at a second hand sale. Most of it is what you expect from Steven King, but this is definitely more enjoyable then his newer work, with some stories being genuinely creepy. Maybe it's just because I read it around Halloween and the ambiance was right, but I did get a few chills from a couple of the stories.
Review to come. Star count might change once I go through each story individually
Three of these stories have actually been filmed with mixed results.
"1408" was a good movie with some quite unnecessary additional "crap" added to flesh it out
"The Road Virus Heads North" (as part of the TNT series Nightmares & Dreamscapes, ironically enough) was quite good, but didn't capture the feeling of sheer horror -- not terror or just scared, but creeping horror -- the not-so short story had.
"Riding the Bullet" I couldn't even read. Why do movie/tv producers feel the need to change things SO much?
Oh,well. I still have the collection on my bookshelf.

Another favorite book of short stories. This one features the prequel to the Dark Tower series.
Stephen King is a talented storyteller. I was excited to read the story 1408 after reading King's book 'On Writing' not too long ago (in which he shows a first draft vs. second draft). The stories in this book are varied so be prepared to read a few that aren't scary, per se, but I certainly didn't mind because a good story is a good story.
I'm counting this as 'a book with at least 400 pages' for #vtReadingChallenge

I think I slightly prefer his older collections, though the notes he included about each story in this one I really enjoyed. Also, his bio picture is so cute ITS HORRIFYINGLY SCARY
I executed horror. Got dark. Turns out Mr King didn't want to ride a horror anthology, rather tales that appeared in his mind when he would look at something. A sudden idea, if you will. Out of 14, I liked only 5. And I read fully 10.
Another great collection of short stories by Stephen King! While some of them weren't my favorite, and I didn't enjoy this collection as much as Night Shift, there were some really awesome stories in here! I'm especially excited to start the Dark Tower series (when I can get my hands on it) after reading the story in here! I also realized that I'll probably never go to Maine because so much bad stuff happens there haha!
