I loved the variety in small bite size pieces!

Found some new authors to search out! I loved these quick stories filled with some stuff I hadn’t even heard of in all my smut reading lol. I enjoyed this book very much, and if you like the monster genre this is a great book for you.

Into the Woods: A Monster Anthology was actually pretty good. Way better than the last anthology with monsters.

In this, you will read about 16 short stories. Out of those, I think there were about 2 that had a TBD in them. Which can definitely annoy me because I would rather have a full short story than a tiny piece of one. For some reason, I was okay with what happened to those because I could totally see myself reading a full book of them. So, now I just need a full book of those TBD stories.

Other than that, I really enjoyed some of the retelling stories throughout this. Definitely got red riding hood, beauty and the beast, and some alice vibes. I also don't think there was a story I truly disliked either. Maybe one that was a bit odd but still likable in my eyes.

In the end, I would definitely read a book from any of the authors who participated in this anthology. Especially if they are dark, have sexy monsters, and some hot romance to devour.

This was my first BIG dive into actual “monsters”. I’ve read loads of wolves, shifters, etc, but this was the first time I have jumped headfirst into monsters.

They threw me in the deep end with the first book being about Orcs…which I honestly have AVOIDED. I. Absolutely. Loved. It. I wanted MOOOOOORE! So I was immediately hooked and ready to keep reading. I was introduced to several other types of monsters I haven’t read. Each story I read was exceptionally well written. I would love for extended versions of most of them.

This would be a great intro into reading about monsters for someone who’s looking to dabble at first. There’s nothing crazy long with drawn out stories. They were all to the point and everything was set up very well.

*full disclosure* there were two I skipped because they weren’t my “thing”. I don’t feel it’s fair to rate this without making that known.

I loved this! An interesting take on rejected mates with a happy resolution. Cute, and fluffy with some lovely chasing and sexy times in the woods

I’ll be reviewing each story that I read from the anthology separately below. I’ll also average my ratings to update the final total rating when done.

Gods May Cry by Lea Jade
☆☆☆☆☆ 5/5
This was my first paranormal dark romance and gosh I was so out of my element but I also loved every second of it. Definitely creepy yet spicy. Think tentacles, claws, predator/prey, etc. I am so intrigued with the Prince of Death and I cannot wait to read the full book when it comes out.

Rooting for Love by Helena Novak and Natalia Prim
☆☆☆ 3/5
The writing was well done and the pacing was excellent but the premise just wasn’t my cup of tea. I think I’ll stick to my slightly more “human resembling” monsters lol. But if smutty vines sound like your kind of thing, this could be a fun book to read.

Poison Games by Sienna Varrone
☆☆☆☆☆!! 5/5
My favorite story from this anthology! I absolutely love Greek mythology so it comes at no shock that I devoured this story. Medusa, twins, smut, venom, snakes…say less. She’s one bad ass monster and i wish this was an entire book. Heck make it a series, I’d be down.

The Lillian Lark and Belatrix Hollow stories definitely stood out as favorites. What was frustrating was how some of the short stories were incomplete and teasers to longer stories. I automatically am NOT interested in an author when that happens and I’m expecting a full story, like other authors in the collection were kind enough to write.
