What a beautiful way to end this story!
I loved this from beginning to end. And let me tell you…THAT ENDING!!
Elle does a beautiful job taking heavy topics like race, injustice, how to be a true ally and setting it all in a detailed fantasy world.
I love to see character growth throughout a story and was very pleased to see this one start off on a heavier darker note. Though I loved the last book, I felt like Rue didn’t really have a lot of moments where we got to see her fail and rise up from it. This one gave me all of the character growth.
I will absolutely recommend this to everyone, no matter your age group!

It was an enjoyable read but I didn't quite enjoy the second as much as the first. Might be because it's a been a while since I read the first. 3.5 stars
I can appreciate what this series was trying to do, but I just didn’t enjoy it unfortunately. The writing was better in this one, much less stuttering, but it felt way too simple for me. Her sister and her life in Houston was completely forgotten about, her insecurities and paranoia got annoying, and WTF RIP JHAMAL YOU DESERVED WAY BETTER
4.2 ⭐️
Ok so this book DEFINITELY surpassed the first. There was this thing in the first book i hadnt noticed till i read a review, the author used alot of old slang in the first book which made it a little dated. It stopped here thank god
This was a fabulous part two, i felt so many emotions
At first i thought i had the plot twist figured out, but it had layers to it that i didnt even guess. I am both happy for the characters in this book especially my girl Rue, and sad that its over. The books are gorgeous and im glad to have both their iconic presence in my collection. I thought the pacing was great it never felt like it was dragging or being wrapped up too fast. Many parts made me emotional which is always a good sign for me! I also had many quotes from this one that touched my heart. If you liked the first i would definitely check this one out

Loved this book so much. I only said it’s complicated in some areas such as character development because this is the second book of a series so a lot of the main character’s development comes from the first book. Overall it was a fast pa Ed read with action packed through the whole thing. Rue’s growth through this book was phenomenal and really shows the strength we all possess in ourselves to learn from our mistakes.
