3.5 Stars. I nice beach read set on Cape Cod. It was a fun quick read which included a bookstore, coffee shop and also jewelry making. I will have to check out more of the author's books.

It’s so tiring to see these books where characters say “I’m not ready to date, I’m not interested in dating right now” and then boom! Two chapters later, they’re dating someone. Life can be lived without needing to be in a relationship!

It was nice to see focus on friendships and family and finding your own path in life. All of the big drama situations were taken care of surprisingly quickly and painlessly. I feel like the bookstore itself could’ve gotten a bit more attention, but everything seemed to revolve around the various men.

All in all, an ok read, nothing I’d really go out of my way to recommend.

My Recommendation
The Bookshop by the Bay
Pamela Kelley

This book was the perfect back yard read for my Memorial Day Weekend. This is a sweet book about mothers and daughters, life challenges and changes.

Jess and Allison have been best friends for years and find themselves with changes in their lives. Jobs are lost, relationships end and begin. Not only do these two friends find life changes but their daughters do too. Caitlyn and Julie slowly find themselves becoming friends and starting over too. This all happens in the small Cape Cod town of Chatham.

I enjoyed this book but it did take a little while to get use to all the different characters. I found this book to be the typical read. I did wish there was a little more drama with the main characters. I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did a fantastic job with the various character voices. The book was an easy listen and I sure it is a great read. This author did a great job in the detail present for this small town, the bookstore and coffee shop. This is a well “written” book and I do recommend it.

For me it was a great book about the power family, friendship and second chances.

Thank you to NetGalley, St.Martin Press and Pamela Kelley for the ARC of a this book.

This was the perfect book to read on my spring break vacation! It was easy to read, yet held my attention throughout- with themes of romance, starting over, and finding your place to belong. I particularly loved the themes of finding out what truly makes you happy, instead of how others think you should live your life. I really enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an early copy!

The writing is poor with characters who simply stating their enotions- that change quiet frequently. The dialogue is choppy, and most of it feels unnecessary. Almost every other paragraph is some extra detail about a minor side character well never see again and it does little to build the town or the people. Author was definitely just trying tonpad to reach a word count.
The side characters who Have Some relevance are one of 3 categories 1. jackass ex boyfriends or husband's who are flat and just jerks. 2. Female friends constantly trying to get one of the main females characters hooked up with a boyfriend. 3. Or the potential boyfriend.

This is the first Pamela Kelley book I have read, but it was a great beach read. The Bookshop by the Bay is a sweet story of second chances and fresh starts when life doesn't end up quite as you planned. Thank you St Martins's Press and NetGalley for the e-ARC.

It was right there. Such. Sweet and soft heart warming book. I just feel it needed a little something more

Like a Hallmark movie set in a Cape Cod summer. Story is largely driven by dialogue. Despite looking to reset their lives, the characters/story remained very relationship-focused, but others may enjoy the constant "what ifs" more than me. Light, easy, with predictably happy endings all around.

Disclosure: I won an ARC of this book from a Goodreads giveaway. Many thanks to St. Martin's Press!
