I enjoyed this book very much.
The only thing I have to take a star away for is that so many side characters are mentioned in memories, but because they’re dead, don’t make an appearance.
A prologue or a few chapters would help. It seemed like this was the second book when it came to the Jules/Etta’s pre-life.

The end of the battle came quick and was only explained a bit after the fact in the “all is well in our world” scenes. Other then that, it was a great read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

The overall readability of this book is good--I finished it quickly, it kept my attention. The cover is gorgeous. The idea behind it is new and interesting.

However, it just wasn't executed well enough to be the book it deserved to be.

I was a little lost in the beginning, intrigued by the middle, and just sort of meh by the end.

The whole premise of the memory thing--being Gifted or Ungifted--didn't really make sense to me. As the book went on, I kind of wrapped my head around it, but I don't think I had a solid enough grasp on it and the world Mansy created to really appreciate it.

While it's written in present tense, first person, Julietta is constantly recounting things that happened previously, whether in the past four years or earlier that morning. It overshadows what's happening then and there and really put me off. I can appreciate when looking into the past is helpful towards the story, especially one like this that deals with memories, but it was so constant it didn't work for me.

Julietta and Reid's connection was a little predictable and happened a little too quickly for my liking, but I liked them together for the most part.

I will say that there were a few twists in the middle of the book that I didn't expect and I think that's really what kept me reading. But, the pacing was too quick and everything happened too easily for my liking.

Overall, it was an interesting concept, but didn't pull enough punches to really get me to like it.

It's an ok book. The author's note at the end gives some context to the story, and I feel like it might fit better ahead of the story.

The pace is off, and twists seemed like they were added to give the story purpose. Not until after Etta meets her granddad is the fire mentioned, and Pen's name not being mentioned might have been a precaution but it felt.. off. It makes the story feel hurried and opens up holes that has to get fixed later on.

I love the idea of this world, the power dynamics, the characters. However I'd prefer it if it was more developed in the beginning so the middle isn't hurried and twists that don't quite fit. Just a personal preferance.

There were so many cute moments, and the message is sweet. It's a quick and easy fantacy read, so I do recommend it if you're into these kinds of books!

The Memory Thief had a good plot to begin with, and the intro to the book drew me in right away. It didn't completely keep my attention the whole time, which is what was frustrating. The author wrote a fine story, but didn't keep my attention the whole way through. The characters were good, just not a lot of depth, but overall it was a nice read, just not a favorite.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

The Memory thief was gifted to me in exchange for a review via netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A brand new fantasy novel where memories are your currency by a debut author. Ummm yes please! I truly loved this story! We meet Etta a strong, tormented, young girl who is doing everything she can to bring her mother back into this world even if that means going back to the people she once betrayed.

I read this story in two sittings and I cannot wait to reread this story and read more from this wonderful and talented author.

Full of twists, turns and action I was on the edge of my seat begging for more and more. I had no idea what was going to happen next and what did truly inspired me!

This is an amazing read that you need to get your hands on.

I just wish it had been a little longer :(

I enjoyed reading this title. The concept was interesting - the ability to steal a person's memories so that they become your own. Don't like you life? Steal someone else's? Want to know how to do something, find someone with that ability and steal their memories about how to do it. In the end, a story about the power of love and what we will do to protect family
