I 'd be careful about giving this book to emotionally vulnerable teenagers.

This has been on my TBR for literal years and I'm so glad I finally got around to reading it. I loved the mystery elements of the plots, and the relationships between all the characters felt so real. The dialogue made me laugh out loud and some of the misunderstandings made me groan. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read more of Cat's books.

Trigger warning for death of a loved one from anorexia, which I would have loved to have known about beforehand. I should maybe start looking up TW on books I want to read.

Mental health is a big focus in this book, with the main character having lost her twin sister to anorexia. I think the author did well to discuss it in a way that didn’t romanticise it and showed some of the dangers. I can see a lot of similarities with my own experiences. There is also mention of another character’s anxiety and discussions around medication which I think was good to include.

The story itself is a medium pace, and in parts, I expected a bit more to happen and things that were a little bit more thrilling. But it didn’t really take away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

I really loved the friendships in this book and the portrayal of them. Rowan is my favourite character and I loved her. There is just something about girl’s boarding schools and thrillers that I just love, and it’s always great when you can see some great friendships (even through all the arguments and fights).

I read this book fairly quickly, and even though it touches on some heaved topics, it was a fairly easy read.
