Beautifully written, fascinating characters and themes. Highly recommended for ages 13 and up.

I do like coming-of-age stories, but I had issues with this one. To name a few: 1) none of the characters were believable as 13-year olds, 2) Some events felt very forced in hopes of shocking the reader, 3) Most of it was veryyyyyy slow, and when something happened, it happened fast, 4) The metaphors and writing and pace were all bland. This was the first audiobook I listened to (tried a couple of times previously but couldn't do it), and it was an easy one to do so, which was its only plus side for me.
She really captures the awkwardness and terribleness of being 13, and how bizarre girls this age can be. I like the casual way she shows us the girls come from wealthy families, but the story isn’t about that. It’s incidental. It’s cringe-worthy and sad and endearing all at once. I enjoyed it, and liked it much better than “The Diver’s Clothes Lie Empty”.

A quick read, some good writing and believable characters. But it somehow didn't grab me; wished for more time spent on Eulabee's adult life.
Excellent as an audiobook, and I think I would have like it either way.
The writing is beautiful and evocative but first person narrative is still believable as a precocious 13 year old girl. I didn’t need the bit at the end where they’re all grown up but it didn’t take anything anyway either.
Memorable characters and a relatable story. Really captured that part of life for me when you know so much and so little about the world at the same time. And probably just as much about yourself.
