A lighthearted, fun, and easy read with a lot to love about it. There is a great range of diverse characters. There were also some great moments of self-discovery and acceptance as Elise learned new aspects of who she is.

This is the story of Elise Beaumont, a seventeen y/o girl who sees death whenever she touches someone. Until she meets the mysterious Claire, a vampire who's sent to master Elise's gift. But when there's a murderer walking loose and there's an odd attraction between the two girls, will they be able to stop the evil together or will everything fall apart?
So this was a fun, sapphic vampire story. It wasn't that good, but not bad by any means either. The characters were alright, there was plenty of representation on all fronts (very exaggerated in the writing though) and a lot of fun references to modern pop culture (like Twilight etc).
I liked the plot and the way vampires were written in this, although at a lot of times, especially at the end, the story felt so rushed. There were a lot of plot holes and the romance just wasn't that great, but I enjoyed myself while reading this.

It is as if the assignment was: "Take the best parts of Twilight and The Vampire Diaries, but make it more wholesome, more inclusive, less problematic and more queer and sapphic" - and this story is successful at that! I love the world building, the loveable characters, the delightful and believable teenage angst, the crushes, and the mystery adventure! I want to have more! I dont know if the author is going to bring us more and make this into a series, but I NEED IT.

I don't know what I feel anymore...
I know I didn't really like how Elise treated Claire or her friends, but at the same time the romance and their friendships were kinda cute.
I didn't like how the story felt so slow at some points and so fast and rushed at others. The pacing felt very inconsistent.
I felt like the whole Elise and Claire romance thing wasn't that realistic and didn't keep me that hooked, because it felt very insta-lovey and just hit me out of nowhere in a random chapter, but it was cute.
I was just expecting more from this book to be honest.

Loved how much was going on in this book. The world building & characters are very well done, and the sapphic romance wasn't super insta-lovey. The ending fell a tad flat for me, but I thought it wrapped up pretty well at the same time. This book is for fans of The Lost Girls by Sonia Hartl & Sweet & Bitter Magic by Adrienne Tooley.
