Sweet Christmas love story about the new teacher that comes to Hartbridge before the holidays. Braithe is pulled over by a cop on his way in and Colson immediately is taken with him. Colson’s isolated himself from everyone and when Braithe is immediately taken in by Hamish and friends, Colson’s desire for more out of life than work surprises him. When Braithe offers him a chance, he agrees as long as no one finds out. Colson’s not willing to risk it all, not again. Until he realizes not taking the risk would be worse.
Reasons I Recommend:
1) Colson’s sad past makes him afraid to risk his future
2) Braithe doesn’t plan to stay but Hartbridge draws him in and his new friends tell him about the Christmas Cupid that he scoffs at and
3) Colson’s decision and how found family is all you really need.

Easy, sweet, light, and lovely. Braithe and Colson are sweet together and I like the cast of friends. Colson acted and came across as at least 40 and that was one reinforced by the voice and the name Colson so I was shocked to find out hes only 29

I really love this series and was excited for this book. I am a little disappointed, it felt really long. It was sweet, but the repeated mention of santa/cupid got old. The focus on whether or not Colton would come out also took up a lot of space and got a bit repetitive.

I find the books in this series to be too long and repetitive for the story they tell. But the spirit of found family is cute.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job. Borrowed via Hoopla.
This is the 4th book in the Hartbridge Christmas series. You don’t have to read the previous books, but the prior three couples are prominent supporting characters. I’ve read them but have usually slept a year in between so I only vaguely remember them. Either I’m in a good holiday romance mood this year or I preferred this book to the prior three. Not sure whether it was the characters or the story or a combination. It had two of my favorite professions in a romance novel which is a teacher and a cop.
Braithe in an Englishman new to Montana. He’s in the US on a work visa for 2 years travelling around the country substituting as a kindergarten teacher where needed. He’s come to Hartbridge for 4 weeks to replace a teacher on maternity leave and when she returns, he’ll move on to the next job and place. He immediately makes plenty of friends in the town and is adopted by the locals. Colson sees this and envies how quickly he assimilates, something he hasn’t done in the last 5 years for fear of judgement by association.
Colson’s journey to finding what he wants and need was an emotional roller coaster ride. He’s established in his job as a Sheriff’s deputy and clearly mentored by the current Sheriff, but he’s never celebrated the holidays and never mentioned his family to workers. He’s melancholy and alone, always watching but rarely participating. The last time he tried, he was left desolate and homeless. His story was truly heartbreaking, and I was overjoyed to see him find his happiness.

Really good, but book 3 is still my favorite so far. One more to go.
