This book had more world building compared to book 1 and I enjoyed the growing romance between Rayne and Doshir.
Some plot points were still predictable, but not as many as the first book.
Some rules for this world that were established were contradicted, and it made it less immersive for me. For example, we’ve established that dragons are fireproof, but towards the end when Rayne is lighting a lantern, she gets burned by the fire from the match.
I feel like this book could have been combined with the first one to make one longer book that felt more complete.
