I. Am. Unwell. This book was perfect. 5 stars in not enough. I finished and I immediately wanted to flip back to the start and reread. I'm trying to be normal about Howl for the Gargoyle, but I'm failing, so apologies in advance for this slightly unhinged review.
Hannah is a newly turned werewolf and struggling with her transition. Everything feels so breakable--including herself. She signs up with the Monster Smash Agency looking for a partner for her pre-full moon spikes. Rafe is struggling with the box he's been put in at the MSA, but Hannah sparks his interest. Their connection soon goes beyond that of client and agent, but that connection is exactly what the need.
Where to start when I loved everything? Hannah. I related to her so much. Uncomfortable in her own skin. Struggling with what was done to her. Working though her insecurities in group therapy and one on one with Rafe. Accepting her new aggressiveness and owning her desired. YES. To all of it. I love her story arc. It was so satisfying. I know I'll be rereading this for comfort. And then Rafe. He's hurting but still so adorable. This might be a bit of a spoiler for part of his anatomy so if you want to skip to the next paragraph to be safe, but gargoyles are slow to come and his disbelief that Hannah wanted him to come every time broke my heart. Rafe, baby, you. are. worth. it.
The smut was hot hot hot. Kathryn Moon is a genius. And the emotions were spot on. I was reading this one with my heart. The angst and hurt/comfort are sure to satisfy. The twist left me gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. No spoilers on that, but let's just say Kathryn Moon was a bit of a monster and I love her for it.
I highly recommend this book. It's so much more than a monster romance.

In all my Monster Fucker Era, I never thought about Gargoyles but now I won't be stopping. It was fascinating and so freaking horny. It was fun to have the man be slow to climax. It made for a lot of smut scenes. I loved Rafe and Hannah's character development. He built his boundaries and she became more comfortable in her new skin. I'm glad my mistrust of cops didn't come out in the novel. I was real scared that Ray was going to be the werewolf that changed Hannah. I mean, fuck Fletcher though. I really had a great time and I can't wait to read more in the series.
