This was fine. Easy and kept me interested

A great premise and loved the setting and isolation. Started off well but unfortunately I found the ending predictable and when the villain revealed all felt too easy. But an enjoyable festive thriller nonetheless.
slow-paced

I was very excited to read a book in advent style format and Xmas Break had great promise in the beginning. Unfortunately, my imagination and predictions went way beyond what the book itself held. I kept thinking, "Surely it can't really be this predictable, right?" I enjoyed reading this with a friend and discussing the chapters each day, but I'm not sure I would recommend this book to others.

I tried to do it advent style. But it was so intriguing I couldn’t stop

This book was a good mix of thriller and family holiday moments. It was a quick read and I was eager to find out how this will end. Totally was shocked at the end!

Xmas Break by JE Rowney is a holiday thriller that can be read as an advent book---though I read it straight through. The characters are interesting, if a bit on the unusual side. the story line is hazy, building the suspense. I did enjoy it, but it does need polishing up here and there.

A 3.5 rating. I enjoyed the story but I mostly guessed everything. That's something rare for me. Since I'm always wrong I kept waiting for something more to hidden or surprise me. Everything was really suspicious and seemed off. It did hold my interest. Was a fast and easy read.

This was a fun read. I liked the family dynamic that took place throughout the story. While I could see the direction the novel was going, it was exciting to see how and why things ended up happening. It’s worth noting that the author was very good at describing what was happening in the scene, there was quite a bit of repetition in phrases, that at first helped me make connections, but then took me out of the story a bit. Still, an enjoyable read and I would absolutely read from this author again.
