Really enjoyed this book! Short but sweet and read by Scarlett herself so added that extra touch.

I really enjoyed listening to Scarlett’s behind the scenes take on Gogglebox and how she overcame bullying and a disability to be where she is.

It just goes to show you have no idea how people came to be who they are and being nice and kind will get you far in life.

Would recommend!

I’m going to start this review by saying that I’m a fan of Scarlett Moffatt. We love Gogglebox in our house so I’ve watched her on there and I really enjoyed watching I’m a Celebrity last year when Scarlett was on it. I was thrilled to be offered a copy of her book for review and I’m so happy to say that it was such good fun to read and I adored it!

Scarlett tells her story in chronological order so first we get to learn more about her childhood and it goes all the way through to her job on Saturday Night Takeaway. I was interested to read about how Scarlett was a ballroom dancer in her childhood and to find out all about what that entailed. She had a tough time at school after an accident damaged her front teeth and this began a spate of bullying that really knocked her confidence. I commend Scarlett for speaking out about the bullies, and for not letting them dull her shine, even now as an adult, as it’s good for younger people to hear these stories and to see someone they admire reinforcing that it’s okay to ask for help.

For fans of Gogglebox Scarlett gives some really fun and interesting info about how the filming process works, which I loved finding out about as it was a bit different to how I’d expected it to be.

The thing that really comes through in this book is Scarlett’s love and care for her family. She shares funny stories and poignant moments about them all but the love just radiates from the page. Scarlett seems so down to earth and her family are her priority in life, and she is theirs, and it was so refreshing to read.

At the end of each chapter Scarlett shares a quote that she loves that relates to what she has just written about and I loved those bits. I used to obsessively write down my favourite quotes when I was younger and it was fun to see someone else who loves them too. Scarlett also begins each chapter with three fun facts, which are all quite random but very entertaining and interesting!

I have seen comments questioning whether someone as young as Scarlett has lived enough of life to be writing an autobiography, and I can understand that but I can honestly say that while Scarlett Moffatt is only 27 she has had such a busy life already so there were plenty of stories for her to share that filled her autobiography!

This book has moments that will move you but it has so much that will make you giggle. Scarlett is really open and honest as she tells her story and I really appreciated that. I felt like she was sitting down to have a natter about things that have happened in her life; there is a really warm, chatty style to this book but at the same time it is well-written. Scarlett has been through tough times in her life but her close bond with her family has got her through the difficulties. I love that she used the hard times to really push herself to achieve things in life. She comes across as a very humble, down to earth young woman with a real drive to succeed and a determination to enjoy life.

I read this in one sitting as I was enjoying it so much that I just didn’t want to put it down. I highly recommend this book, it’s such an honest, funny and all-round lovely memoir!

If you were a child in the 90s there are many a story you'll identify with in this. Written with humour, a light and easy read.

I fucking love Scarlett Moffatt! I am that type of person that will chuck on jogging bottoms, open some snacks and a bottle of prosecco and watch Gogglebox on a Friday night. Scarlett is a top lass and this book is all HER!!
Spoiler
Scarlett outlines the early days before Gogglebox; her dancing days, her dad being diagnosed with cancer, the bullying (I've recently been diagnosed with Bells Palsy - relatable), her uni days/being an unemployed graduate, meeting her boyfriend Luke. She also chats about dealing with the panic attacks and anxiety from her fame from Gogglebox, she talks about winning I'm a Celebrity and presenting Streetmate. You really get to know Scarlett Moffatt from the slightly awkward weirdo kid to the absolutely smashing northern lass. I think she's canny, man.

I LOVED this book!

I have liked Scarlett Moffat ever since she was in gogglebox and I also loved her when she was in I'm a Celeb. I had always wondered how and why she got onto to both of these shows which was one of the main reasons I picked this book up. Another big reason that I bought the book was the cover which is just so amazing (Underneath the dust jacket may just be my new favorite cover!)

Scarlett was so relatable in the book and because I was listening to the audiobook, which was read by Scarlett Moffat herself, I felt like she was telling me her life story. The story was so amazing and Scarlett's life was so interesting and fantastic to read.

This is without a dowt the best autobiography i have ever read and now I definetly want to read her first book.

I’ve always been a fan of Scarlett’s so I was delighted to be able to read Me Life Story pre-publication. It’s safe to say I’m an even bigger fan now! 😍 This book is hilarious, honest and just so fun to read. I read the whole thing over the course of a day because I genuinely couldn’t put it down.

Scarlett has a thirst for knowledge, which I can totally appreciate because I’m the exact same way. 🙌🏼 Each chapter is begun with some facts, which I loved, because it gives an insight into the kind of random things that she’s interested in. Plus, she worships at the altar of Proffessor Stephen Hawking! Can’t get much more intelligent than that!

As well as some genuine laugh out loud moments the book is interspersed with some of the harder times in Scarlett’s life so far. I can empathise with some of it as I’ve gone through it too, and her honesty is really refreshing. Plus her Northern-ness is almost like us Irish, a sense of humour can really help you through some dark times.

I loved finding out more about Scarlett. I knew she was my kind of person before I began, but this book has made me wish she was one of my friends. She comes across as a really genuine, caring and all round lovely person. Her inability to believe some of the good luck and opportunities she’s had makes her seem really down to earth and just so damn nice! 😊

I honestly loved this book. It felt like a chat with your best mate, like the ones you’d have late at night talking about everything and anything! A real honest and genuinely funny book, it was definitely a brilliant read!

Highly recommended 🙌🏼

I really didn't expect to love this as much as I did, or find Scarlett as relatable as I did. We need more working class women writing their memoirs and recording the audiobook like Scarlett has done. It's so rare that people with the same background as me end up doing things like this. I found this book funny but also genuinely moving.

Listened to this on soggy commute full of gross coughing people and it was the auditory equivalent of having a comforting hot chocolate

* I didn't read it two times though, don't know what goodreads is saying I did!*
