I had the audiobook read by a full cast. Including Dolly Parton. This is what drew me to listen. The worst voice for me was the older retired country singer who I am presuming was voiced by Dolly Parton. 

I went first this purely out of curiosity. I am not a fan of Patterson’s collaborative work and avoid them generally. 

Annie Lee is a young singer songwriter aiming to get to take Nashville by storm, willing to do whatever it takes to survive. Will Nashville be her saviour or her downfall. 

The reader gets a mix of the struggles of an up and coming country singer plus the poignant story of her back ground. There are friendships, but also people looking to take advantage along the way. 

This is way outside of my typical reading material. Curiosity got the better of me, and I must say to my surprise that I found it enjoyable. It’s slow paced, very character driven which you’d expect. 

I would have loved for the lyrics to have been song rather than read. Although I learnt that there’s an accompanying album.

I love Dolly but her role in the audio narration was about the only thing that kept this from being 1 star. The writing was obviously done by an amateur Patterson ghostwriter. The characters had no dimension (and were all pretty annoying) and the plot was predictable.
