*3.5 fun read but the ending was kind of abrupt and unsatisfying.
Characters were fun, but it was very predictable and the storyline didn’t have much substance.
Fantastic book! Annie Lee was so compelling! Great partnership between Dolly Parton and James Patterson.
Better than expected. Absolutely would read another book by Dolly.
(This is in no way a thriller. It’s barely a mystery.)

Ok. I’m not going to lie. I had this preorder for a while; literally because it was written by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. This is also the reason I held onto it for almost a week before reading. Because I absolutely love Dolly and was suddenly intensely worried I would be let down.
Overall, it was a good book. A little predictable in the story line, but different in that there are literally whole songs written in it (and the lyrics are enclosed in the back). I love the concept of the album being released, so you can literally hear the songs that go with the story. It is definitely more chick lit than thriller, but definitely enjoyable!
Overall, I would rate it 4.5/5 ⭐️

Another Cinderella story!
When I started this book, I was under the impression this would have a bit more suspense and thrill, but that wasn’t the case. This is a most similar to a Disney movie. While I have nothing against a good Disney movie, this was not at all what I had expected.
At first, I’ll admit, I was disappointed as I had gotten halfway through the book with no action or twists or turns, but as I continued reading, I dropped my expectations and began to enjoy it.
Synopsis: Annielee Keyes is comes to Nashville to start her country music career, and along the way, she makes a few friends and a good ally with a former star. But for some reason, Annielee doesn’t like speaking about her past, and it seems, just as she is about to break out as a star, her past has come back to haunt her.
It feels very much like Dolly Parton had a heavy hand in this book — or perhaps James Patterson did a fabulous job channeling his inner Dolly. There are few hardships for the main character, but she’s meant to be a star, and everyone who hears her knows it.
She makes a few friends along the way to stardom, one of which feels like a self-insert of Dolly herself.
The writing was interesting and easy to read. I found myself enjoying several passages as I read, despite the miscategorization. The audiobook was narrated by a full cast. If you don’t enjoy country accents or Dolly Parton’s voice, I suggest you stick to the hard copy, because there’s a lot of both in the audiobook.
If you’re looking for a traditional James Patterson novel, you won’t find that here. If you’re looking for thriller and suspense, there’s about three minutes of it towards the end and you’ll likely be left wanting.
However, if you’re looking for a feel-good cinderella story about a girl born to be a singer, this is a cute read.

Ofcourse we’ve all been awaiting this one haven’t we and if you didn’t know about it… Where have you been? I got this release day and finished it the day after. Well and truelly devoured it. I don’t think my words or review will do this book the amount of justice it deserves but I will try. Let’s just say this is my book of the year. The cover is stunning, the whole story is amazing from the first page till the last and two brilliant authors, beautifully co-written.
I haven’t had chance to listen to the album yet but this really is a must buy, a must read. I’ve been shouting about it to everyone. A starting from the bottom story and reaching the top with challenges and hidden secrets emerging along the way. It is a work of fiction but parts had me relating characters to bits of Dolly herself. The songs within are beautiful too and the ending is utterly perfect.
I do not have one bad thing to say about it. I devoured it but I didn’t want to. I miss it. I can see it being turned into a future film (I can only hope). This is a huge 2022 book and bestseller and I can highly recommend it. A well deserved five stars from me. Going into my top ten reads of the year and its my book of the year already. Amazing. This is going to be hard to forget and will stay in my heart for a long time.
