Love Dolly! Audiobook is a must for this one. She is on it, as is Kelsea Ballerini!
I’ll be honest & say that I wanted to read this because I love Dolly! James Patterson is also an author I’ve been reading for years although haven’t read anything by him in a really long time. This was an easy read with a good story, likable characters along with some mystery. Some people might consider it a thriller but it wasn’t heart pounding with crazy twists however it definitely held my interest. I enjoyed it!
Giving it 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

i only picked this up because i love dolly parton. and i really loved the whole country musician aspect of the book. it was fascinating and i wish the whole book focussed on that. i would've loved more on annielee's relationships with ruthanna and ethan, and more of her success as a country musician. (also the album dolly parton wrote to accompany the book is an absolute banger!)
i've never read a james patterson book before but have heard great things about his books. but i gotta say, for a bestselling thriller author, this book did not involve many thrills. it was all chucked into the last 50-odd pages of the book, with a couple sprinkles throughout but nothing substantial enough to get my spine tingling.
i also found the ending to be very rushed. i wanted more on the aftermath of the discovery of annielee's past. there was a huge reveal of a very traumatic and messed-up background and then it's basically the epilogue. like i needed more between the reveal and her being a successful country musician.

Great quick read Country music fans! I loved this duo of authors & what each brought to the table. The writing was good & the details made the music come alive. My only critique is a vague complaint about what made Rose run. That's the only part of the story that didn't ring completely true to me.
I violated my self-imposed ban on Patterson books, and now I’ve paid the price. Tho Dolly reading in the audiobook was entertaining.
96 Chapters -Rather long, and a bit predictable. Overall not bad listen - might be good for a long road trip.
Listened to the audiobook and they used different voice actors for the various different parts which took some getting used to.

4.5 stars rounded to 5! If you like country music, this is the book for you! The story of AnnieLee's rise to country music fame, despite a sordid past. A great cast of characters and enough mystery to keep you going until the end. Loved this one!
