This book had such a good storyline and the audio version really made me want to keep listening! Highly recommend!

Gave this one an extra star just for Dolly Parton. The audiobook is narrated by Dolly, Kelsey Ballerini, and a number of talented voice actors, which I thought was the best part. The book is mostly a rags to riches story focused on a burgeoning country music star. The thriller part of the book feels more like an add-on, and all of the build-up to the mystery gets wrapped up very quickly in the end. Most of the story is about a strong, scrappy female lead, and at the end, it's a man who has to save the day; typical, boring, disappointing.

As a Tennessean, Dolly Parton is a household name and here we are with the Queen of Country proving there’s no limit to her talent! I absolutely adored this book and how I could easily see the scenes set in famous spots and the mention of so well known many country artists and iconic Nashville buildings or areas made me so happy. Even though this book isn’t exactly short, it flies by with very short chapters that almost tease you because you can’t stop until you have answers. Of course, this book gets 5⭐️, as shiny as Dolly's iconic outfits! I know will be recommending it for a long time to come.

This book is a perfect combination of a mystery, thriller, romance, and add in the music element, you get an incredible story that I devoured. I loved how I could see Dolly's touch in so many ways with the characters of AnnieLee and Ruthanna as those two women just screamed her personality but in unique ways. Each character was well thought out and had their own secrets that you just had to know. I fell in love with Ethan—who wouldn’t?!—and his story added such heart. There’s so much to say and discuss about this book but I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone because I have no doubt that this book will be loaned out from my library in the next few months.

I really liked this book! The characters felt real, and I could definitely feel Dolly Parton’s influence on the book. I really resonated with AnnieLee and her determination not to depend on men. Also, the song snippets were a nice touch, and I love that Dolly released an album to go along with the books. The only downside to the book was that the ending felt rushed.

The beginning of this was honestly pretty campy fun, and as a fan of both Dolly and Nashville the TV series it held my attention. I believed that Dolly had input in this and the character based off her is great.

Unfortunately after a while the plot totally fell apart and bordered on being kind of offensive with the protagonist becoming a complete damsel in distress who isn’t even awake for the conclusion and needs the hot army man (who may have killed someone? This plot thread was left dangling) to save her. Is her tragic life story just for his personal growth? It felt like it.

Two stars for Dolly and the look at the music industry, but the messy plot and terrible ending kept me from enjoying it fully (it just skipped over the climax with a time jump to the epilogue where everyone’s happy? I read 400 pages for the two hot protagonists to never kiss but just jump to being engaged? The villain is finally revealed and then time jump he’s in prison immediately? Who outlined this)

A very solid 3.75 star read. This story included all of the pacing of a James Patterson novel with the cuteness and happy wrapped up bow of a Dolly Parton story. It was different than what I've been reading lately which was really nice, but it unfortunately it had threads of a story that is all to familiar for many women. I am looking forward to seeing this on the big screen with Dolly as Ruthanna!

While other novels attempt to depict an unknown musician being "discovered," there's no doubt that this story offers a glimpse of the real thing. You can almost hear Dolly Parton singing the numerous original songs mentioned in the book, and there's enough suspense and drama to make it hard to stop reading.
