I enjoyed this book a lot except for Chapters 70-95 which felt like a boiler plate thriller plot got shoved into an otherwise engaging story about country music stars. Trying to make this a thriller didn’t work: it dragged on way too long and the “twist” was just plain dark and upsetting… The mystery reveal was not worth the slow, cliche, and unbelievable cross-country journey it took to reveal it. Put another way, Chapters 70-95 simply didn’t have enough of the best character in the book, Ruthanna Ryder. I could read a whole series based on her (as long as it isn’t a “thriller”)
