Okay, I'm going to complain. I wanted to like this book. The premise is amazing.

But the voice and style were too stilted to read it comfortably, and I never really cared about any of the characters.

Harsh, I know. But you asked!

Very good book especially one to start of the series. I loved the romance in it!

Alright wow I was so happily surprised by this book! The characters were deep the stories really meant something. This is not like the other fairy tale retelling's that you have read this one stands out on it's own. It was amazing read it!

A bit cryptic for my taste, but I still think Cameron Dokey is a brilliant story writer.

I'm on a long and very slow mission to reread all of my childhood and teenage favorites and decide if they still deserve space on my shelf.
Most of my issues with this retelling do originate with the tale or with fairy tales in general, so I can't judge it too harshly. Still, this was once one of my favorite books in my all-time favorite series, but while it was a very nostalgic reread, I'm also a bit sad to no longer love this as much as I once did.

A storyteller tells the story of Shahrazad with several stories within the story and interesting use of prologue and periodic expository breaks. Engaging storyteller's voice and good storytelling.

One of the best books in this "series" of retellings. I love the cover too.
