I very much enjoyed this book. It is one of the only Fiona Cole books I've read so far but I will most definitely be investing in purchasing the rest of her books. This was very much a comfort read for me, I honestly never wanted to put it down. Fiona knows how to write romance that's all I can say.

This is a unique take on a marriage of convenience.
Slow, but super hot burn and angsty!
Vera wants to be independent and successful. Her father has very traditional beliefs and expectations, including arranging her marriage to strengthen his business.
Vera is a bit goody-goody with a rebel inside wanting to break free.
Her two bestie’s bring lots of laughs and naughty fun! They are great secondary characters!
Oh, Nico... he’s alpha, a bit harsh on the exterior and oh, so sexy!
The two have that enemies super hot chemistry and banter. I love that aspect so much, all that tension was scorching hot!
The sexy factor is strong and written so well!
And there are some secrets that get revealed over time that turn everything upside down.
Great story and characters! I really enjoyed this book!

“If you wait for the perfect fairy tale, you will never find happiness. Sometimes Prince Charming is everything you need when you didn’t know you needed it...”

Vera's father has arranged for her to marry a dangerous and disrespectful man all in the name of business. As an act of rebellion, Vera hooks up with a masked stranger at a ball and it is electric! But what happens when he turns out to be her new boss that she hates? Blame it on the Champagne of course! Soon Vera and Nico come up with their own business arrangement - they will marry eachother to save Vera from her arranged marriage and to improve Nico's business standing. But soon the unthinkable happens... Vera starts to fall in love with her husband! Who is to blame when she finds out their marriage was his act of revenge?

This book really drew me in and I was hooked. I mean it's not the most believable story line but gosh darn it the chemistry between Nico and Vera was irresistible - especially at the masquerade party! And, after all, that's what you want in a good romance book. The end set up the couple for the next book, Blame it on the Tequila, and I'm looking forward to reading it. I've read a few Fiona Cole books this year and I've enjoyed them all so far. She's definitely an author I'd recommend for any reader who loves romance and some spice.

3 stars. The story could have used some fine tuning. I think the author couldn’t really decide to make the story be a mafia romance or just a contemporary romance.

Blame It on the Champagne
Blame It on the Alcohol, Book 1
By: Fiona Cole
Narrated by: Vanessa Edwin, Lance Greenfield

I know I can always count on an entertaining listen when I pick up a Fiona Cole book. This one had me laughing out loud and tearing up. Just the perfect mix of fun and angst for the best listen! This is an arranged marriage story with a twist! Vera has been groomed all of her life to marry a man to keep her family company going. When the person chosen is not even discussed her and is a total jerk, she takes matters into her own hands and takes up an offer to marry her boss, Nico. Nico has a vendetta against her parent's company and what better way to begin taking his revenge by marrying Nico. Except, things never go as they are planned. Cole had me through this entire book. Not a dull moment was to be had. Vera is a strong willed, smart woman and she does what she needs to, to find her happiness. Nico finds out there is more to life than revenge, and his grandfather steals the show with his incredible wisdom! I love this book, and I Blame It on the Champagne!! Can't wait for book 2 in this series.

I think the voices of Vanessa Edwin and Lance Greenfield were in Cole's head when she was writing this story. They are so perfectly suited to the characters, a better team could not have been cast. Edwin is feisty, smart and vulnerable, bringing out all the feels in Vera. Greenfield is just enough alpha and teddy bear to make me fall fast and hard for Nico. Loved their story telling!
